Milk from the female's breast is generally produced after pregnancy when she has a delivery. Prolactin Production in Women


Prolactin is a hormone that is associated with lactation, is a contributor in breast development during a pregnancy, and is responsible for producing milk. Thus, hyperprolactinaemia can cause spontaneous production and flow of breast milk. Therefore, the main function of Cabergoline is to imitate the action of Dopamine to decline prolactin production in the blood.


Dostinex medication is for adults only and should not be given to children under 16 years of age. Dostinex is an oral formulation of 0.5mg doses. Dostinex is generally prescribed as the 1mg dose in a single dose to stop the normal lactation after having a baby on the first day. For the treatment of Prolactin disorder or hyperprolactinaemia, the suggested dose is 0.5mg in a week that can be consumed at once or in two divided doses of 0.25mg like one on Monday and the other on Thursday in a week. The dose can be increased to 1mg to two times per week. The dose up to 4.5mg in a week can be demonstrated for hyperprolactinaemic disorder, but the dose of Dostinex must not exceed the level of 3mg per day. Dostinex drug must be taken with food. Women who wish to breastfeed their babies, but have hyperprolactinaemic disorder are not suggested to take Dostinex medication. Use of Dostinex is inhibited if you have hypersensitivity towards Cabergoline or any other constituent of Dostinex drug. Dostinex administration can produce some unusual responses such as dizziness, hot flashes, nausea, stomach pain, indigestion, headache, dry mouth, or feeling of numbness.


Patients with high blood pressure, heart or breathing disorders, liver disease, or pregnancy-associated disorder is not advised to take Dostinex medication. Patients taking psychoactive therapy should take particular care to use Dostinex medication. Dostinex should not be taken if you are pregnant and after the treatment, pregnancy must be prevented for the next one month. Certain hormonal imbalance can also cause prolactin disorder such as the absence of periods, the absence of ovulation process between menstrual cycle, change in menstruation, and secretion of breast milk without feeding.  Patients on Dostinex medication are suggested to refrain from driving and other attention obligatory tasks due to somnolence and impaired vigilance. Avoid sharing the same medication with other individuals, even if they have the same symptoms because every person is different and you may not know what side effects they may experience.
